About 300 Alabamians may lose their jobs because the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will now purchase cheaper condoms from China and South Korea instead of from Alatech in Eufala, Alabama, according to The Kansas City Star. USAID gives billions of condoms to other countries but, up until now, has exclusively distributed American condoms. The Star reports that a USAID official said they knew the move would cost Americans jobs, but the imported condoms only cost about 2 cents each compared to the Alabama versions which run about 5 cents - Examiner.com

Obama: Sending Jobs Overseas Bad - Illegals Takings Jobs Here Just Fine
This same President however fails to see that the end result is the same if they go and let these corporations go and hire illegal aliens to do the work. Sure the job is still here, but instead of sending the work overseas, they brought the foreign worker here to do the job. Illegal aliens are outsourced labor. Instead of sending the work to them, they came to the work.
This is where frequent raids were effective, in that illegal aliens never knew when or where Government ICE Agents would strike next. But now, our President seems to have second thoughts about collecting illegal aliens and sending them back home.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has delayed a series of proposed immigration raids and other enforcement actions at U.S. workplaces in recent weeks, asking agents in her department to apply more scrutiny to the selection and investigation of targets as well as the timing of raids, federal officials said.
A senior department official said the delays signal a pending change in whom agents at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement choose to prosecute -- increasing the focus on businesses and executives instead of ordinary workers.
"ICE is now scrutinizing these cases more thoroughly to ensure that [targets] are being taken down when they should be taken down, and that the employer is being targeted and the surveillance and the investigation is being done how it should be done," said the official, discussing Napolitano's views about sensitive law enforcement matters on the condition of anonymity.
"There will be a change in policy, but in the interim, you've got to scrutinize the cases coming up," the senior DHS official said, noting Napolitano's expectations as a former federal prosecutor and state attorney general. - Washington Post
Corporations that outsource work overseas have been made out to be evil despite economic studies reporting that these corporations ultimately result in more money and work being returned to the US in the long run. Oddly enough, the new Government is completely unwilling to recognize that Illegal aliens taking jobs inside the US is just as 'evil' if not worse since those taking the work are breaking the law because they have no right to work in the US.
Democrats has defended the taking of jobs by illegal aliens by claiming that illegal aliens are only taking jobs that Americans are not willing to do. I have pointed out in the past that there is no such thing as a job that Americans are unwilling to do (and the show DIRTY JOBS provides proof of that weekly). Recent news of a janitor job receiving 700+ applications is more such proof that Americans can be pretty flexible when it comes to taking most any job (That job by the way was in Ohio which is basically the wrong place to be if your looking for work. Which touches on another point, people out of work need to consider moving to where the jobs are.) Anyway, if there is such a thing as jobs Americans are not willing to do, then it is possible that the jobs being exported by American companies are those jobs that Americans are unwilling to do. If Democrats want to use that excuse in defense of Illegal Aliens taking jobs inside the US, then corporations can equally use that excuse to ship jobs out of the country...
P.S.
Also last week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus made similar calls as the caucus met formally with Obama for the first time."Raids that break up families in that way, just kick in the door in the middle of the night, taking [a] father, a parent away, that's just not the American way. It must stop," Pelosi added at a Capitol Hill conference on border issues sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. - Washington Post

Earth Hour - Total B.S.
VOTE EARTH - YOUR LIGHT SWITCH IS YOUR VOTEThis year, Earth Hour has been transformed into the world’s first global election, between Earth and global warming. For the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote – Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. WWF are urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes, which will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009.This meeting will determine official government policies to take action against global warming, which will replace the Kyoto Protocol. It is the chance for the people of the world to make their voice heard.Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness. In 2009, Earth Hour is being taken to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Unlike any election in history, it is not about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from. VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet. Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH during Earth Hour 2009, and this number is growing everyday. We all have a vote, and every single vote counts. Together we can take control of the future of our planet, for future generations.VOTE EARTH by simply switching off your lights for one hour, and join the world for Earth Hour. - Link
Not for anything, but there are two issues here:
1. Is the planet warming or not?2. Are humans contributing to 'Climate Change' in a substantial way or is it mostly natural?

Released GITMO Detainees Should Go Back To Their Own Country - To be Tortured or Not
Some of the detainees, deemed non-threatening, may be released into the United States as free men, Blair confirmed. That would happen when they can't be returned to their home countries, because the governments either won't take them or the U.S. fears they will be abused or tortured. That is the case with 17 Uighurs (WEE'-gurz), Chinese Muslim separatists who were cleared for release from the jail long ago. The U.S. can't find a country willing to take them, and it will not turn them over to China. - AP (Found via the Weekly Standard)
Update: Marion Barry Should Die in Jail
Now comes word of just how much Marion Barry owes in taxes:
According to an affidavit filed yesterday by an IRS special agent, Barry owes $277,688.05 to the U.S. Treasury in back taxes, interest and penalties. The IRS agent did not break down the total any further. But the agent said Barry's 2007 return indicates that he owes the federal government $6,512 in taxes for that year. The IRS is taking $1,350 every two weeks from Barry's paycheck, the agent wrote. - Washington Post
Not for anything, but this guy should finally be made an example of. All he does is waste our time and damages the potential of inner city DC children who learn that this is the type of person who they should look up to as a hero. That is just messed up.Jailing Marion Barry will do more good for Washington, DC than billions of dollars in stimulus! If they decide against sending him to jail, he should run for Congress, or apply for a position in Obama's Cabinet. Looking at the clowns we currently have serving, this guy is qualified enough for two positions!

What about the Others who got Government Money?
Take for instance ACORN:
- ACORN gets Government funding.
- ACORN uses Government funding to Lobby Congress.
- ACORN gets more Government funding.
Take the poor:
- The Poor get Government assistance in the form of Unemployment, welfare, Food Stamps, etc.
- The Poor donate to politicians.
- The Politicians arrange to give more money to the poor.
IF Government money given to Corporations in trouble is going to have strict conditions on how it can be used, then so should Government money given to the poor. I am sure it does have some conditions, but I am also sure that there is no checking and enforcement of whether people are complying. And as for conditions on the money, one should be a ban on making political donations!

Symbolic Move from US in Protest of President Obama
Also, I have spent more time out of the country than many of those moonbats who promised to move out of the US if Bush got re-elected in 2004 and then reneged on that promise.
