Photo of President Obama Celebrating Iran Deal with Iran's President Hassan Rouhani

News out of Switzerland today has US President Obama claiming a deal with Iran as a victory for his Administration. Below is a photo of the two leaders celebrating.

According to the Deal, Iran gives up basically nothing. The US in return unfreezes $7 Billion in Iranian funds.

Keep in mind that it is not the US that made Iran a dangerous State. A recognized and internationally sanctioned State Sponsor of Terrorism. We now have a President who not only green-lights running guns to drug gangs in Mexico, but is now the World's number one Iran Sanctions violator.

For that, President Obama is our Idiot politician of the Day. Not that he isn't every day....

Obama's UN Speech Supported the State Dept's Benghazi Lie

Slowly the facts are coming out about what happened during the Sept 11 attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi. This attacks were initially blamed on some video that muslims rioted over because they were told by their peers that the video insulted Mohammad.

In reality, proof is coming out that the Government knew from the start that the attack on the US Consulate was a terrorist attack and not some video protest that turned tragically violent. Take a look at the following timeline, keeping in mind that right from the start, they knew this was a terrorist attack (See the full timeline here which includes numerous other instances where the video was blamed):
  • 11 Sept
    • During the day - Protests in Egypt over the Mohammad video
    • In the evening - Attack on US Consultate - Ambassador killed
    • Later that evening - Attack on CIA Safe House - Two Americans killed
    •  Hilary Clinton blames video for violence
  • 16 Sept
    • Susan Rice Makes TV show rounds and blames the video
  • 25 Sept
    • Obama makes his speech at the UN
President Obama, surely knowing that this was a terrorist attack, still pushed the video lie in his speech to the United Nations.
There are no words that excuse the killing of innocents. There is no video that justifies an attack on an Embassy. There is no slander that provides an excuse for people to burn a restaurant in Lebanon, or destroy a school in Tunis, or cause death and destruction in Pakistan. - Link
President Obama's entire UN speech reinforces the lie created by Hilary Clinton and his State Department, that the deaths of 3 Americans were the result of some video that nobody saw. His UN speech only mentions terrorists once, and that is in reference to Iran. Instead, he refers to the terrorist attack on the US Consulate as some mere violent religious outrage. The President was right in that there was no video that justified an attack on a US Embassy. However, terrorists do not have to justify their actions.

Now the President's UN speech might not matter just yet, but once Congress hears evidence from Administration officials who have direct knowledge of what actually happened, everything the President, Secretary of State Clinton and other Administration officials said about this attack will become an issue. Even more so if it turns out that lies were made to protect Obama's reelection. At the very least, Obama's speech was a full two weeks after the attack. All of the relevant Administration officials would have been aware of the facts or will have been told a lie agreed upon by others high up in the Government.

This growing scandal might even bring down the Obama Administration. Even better if it ends Hilary's 2016 run for the White House. As it stands, both persons were very likely fully knowledgeable of both the facts and the lies put forward.

There is no reason to build a mosque at or near Ground Zero

Like many people, I have been following the Ground Zero Mosque. Of course, the President has to weigh in on the side of the mosque builders. Unfortunately, a real President would have sided on the signs of Americans in opposition to building this mosque where they want to.

Here are some issues I have with the Ground Zero Mosque.

As noted on the Ace of Spades Blog, they want to build this right against the Ground Zero site.

Along with the location issue, just how many muslims live in lower Manhattan? There can't be all that many given that it is a business area. There does not appear to be many at all given this search in Google Maps, which shows only a few mosques and centers in all of Manhattan.

The lack of mosques in Manhattan in general is a perfect example of how this new mosque is not needed. After all, it is not like Manhattan was built yesterday and they had not yet gotten around to building the mosque. New York City is one of America's oldest cities and has been around for a couple hundred years. There is a reason why there are no large mosques in Manhattan.

This brings out another issue in that Islam has no real historical roots in Manhattan. There is no abundance of mosques up in Northern Manhattan where Harlem is, where you would think there would be, if anywhere. Islam was just not present. So why should some outsiders all of a sudden simply be allowed to shove a mosque in where it doesn't belong.

Mosque building is a funny thing. I have been to a number of muslim countries. In general, muslims build two things; mosques and bombs. Sure, you have places like Dubai, which has built a whole city out of the sand. But that was not based on any sort of rational decision-making. Cities grow because they are alive. Dubai was built with the idea that if you build it they will come. That seems to be the same idea with this mosque. Manhattan was built into a great city because the people came to it and it grew from that life.

Finally, as a larger issue, I do not think that Islam in general is a religion that is compatible with the spirit of the US. It is repeated over and over that the 9/11 terrorists are not symbolic of islam in general. In they they hijacked islam. My position is that this is representative of islam. Because if islam was hijacked, why is there no evidence of that. (See my post: Islam was not Hijacked)

So if the builders of the Obama-endorsed Ground Zero mosque want to exert their right to build a mosque on the edge of an islam-invoked terror-site. I look forward to others invoking their right to not help them in their task. There is already a call for construction workers to take a pledge not to help build the mosque. That is a great start. There are lots of others who can join in that pledge as well to thwart the construction, such as truck drivers, suppliers, equipment lessors, etc. New Yorkers and Americans in general can do anything they put their mind to. the Government for some reason has seen fit to endorse this project. It is now up to the people to stop it.

This is why we should be Executing Convicted Terrorists

Keep in mind that this concerns a man whose only reason for still being around is due to the fact that he failed in his quest to blow himself, everyone traveling to the US with him and the plane they were all on to pieces.
Reid was arrested in 2001 for attempting to blow up American Airlines Flight 63 from Paris to Miami with 197 passengers and crew on board. Why had Attorney General Eric Holder decided not to renew his security measures, kept in place since 2002?

According to court documents filed in a 2007 civil lawsuit against the government, Reid claimed that SAMs violated his First Amendment right of free speech and free exercise of religion. In a hand-written complaint, he asserted that he was being illegally prevented from performing daily “group prayers in a manner prescribed by my religion.” Yet the list of Reid’s potential fellow congregants at ADX Florence reads like a Who’s Who of al Qaeda’s most dangerous members: Ramzi Yousef and his three co-conspirators in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing; 9/11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui; “Millennium bomber” Ahmed Ressam; “Dirty bomber” Jose Padilla; Wadih el-Hage, Osama Bin Laden’s personal secretary, convicted in the 1998 U.S. Embassy bombing that killed 247 people. - WSJ
This is an idiotic situation that that the Government has put itself in. Richard Reid should have faced the death penalty for what he had planned to do, especially given that it was only blind luck (and dare I say an Act of God) that prevented him from being successful.

Surely, he would have been eligible for the death penalty had he killed anyone during his act of terrorism. Unfortunately, his plans were to die in the process. Despite being stopped, he should have been tried according to his intent, not the final result. He should have been executed and as a side benefit we would not have to be dealing with how to confine him in prison or worry about who he might talk to or who he might drive to the cause of terrorism, not to mention worry about whether the Government is violating his rights or not. Instead we get to worry about all those things as well as a surely have to deal with a growing group of supporters within the population who will eventually call for his release because he has reformed himself while in prison.

Better to put him and all the others in a box. They do not deserve to live. Keeping them alive just invites trouble.

Polio - A Muslim Disease

During President Obama's speech in Cairo this week, he mentioned the following concerning polio:
Today I'm announcing a new global effort with the Organization of the Islamic Conference to eradicate polio. And we will also expand partnerships with Muslim communities to promote child and maternal health.

All these things must be done in partnership. Americans are ready to join with citizens and governments; community organizations, religious leaders, and businesses in Muslim communities around the world to help our people pursue a better life. - White House
But wait, Polio was all but headed for complete eradication, until Muslims f*cked it up.
In 2006 only four countries in the world (Nigeria, India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan) were reported to have endemic poliomyelitis. Cases in other countries are attributed to importation. - Wikipedia
AND:
A major factor in the failure of polio immunization programs is opposition by Muslim fundamentalists. In Pakistan and Afghanistan, the Taliban have issues fatwas opposing vaccination as an attempt to avert Allah's will, and as an American plot to sterilize Muslims. The Taliban have kidnapped, beaten, and assassinated vaccination workers and officials. In February 2007, physician Abdul Ghani, who was in charge of polio immunizations in a key area of disease occurrence in northern Pakistan, was killed in a terrorist bombing. In July 2007, a student traveling from Pakistan imported the first polio case to Australia in over 20 years. - Wikipedia
To compare the US has been the driving force to eradicate polio, having its last natural case in 1979. The Western Hemisphere was declared Polio free in 1994. I am not sure how much more we are expected to do. After all, the extremists are not going to join any partnership with the US to eradicate polio. After all, if a child dies, regardless of receiving and medical aid, they use the death as an opportunity to blame the US for it. This is just one more reason to fight the Taliban. Modern society is simply not compatible with their beliefs.

What is needed is to force the Muslim world to educate their populations. And by education, I do not mean memorizing the Koran.

1 Terrorist Smoked - Three Of His Buddies Still Targets

Yes, that terrorist at the bottom of my sidebar was the one that was blown to pieces thanks to a car bomb in Damascus this week. He (Imad Mugniyah) was one of the four TWA Flight 847 hijackers. So while he has been found and eliminated, by somebody, three other ringleaders still remain on the loose. So whoever was behind this bombing, don't forget the following guys who are hanging out either in Syria or in Lebanon; Well within striking distance.

First up is TWA Flight 847 hijacker Mohammed Ali Hamadei. He is the one who executed US Navy diver Robert Stethem. He was released from prison by our German 'friends' and is currently living in Lebanon. The US has requested his extradition, which the Lebanese Government has ignored, just like the Germans did. This however does not stop them from asking the US for handouts of millions of dollars in aid, which the US seems inclined to give them without resolving this important open issue.

Then there is TWA Flight 847 hijacker Hassan Izz-Al-Din.

Finally, there is TWA Flight 847 hijacker Ali Atwa.
He is currently wanted by the United States government for involvement in the June 14, 1985, skyjacking of TWA Flight 847. (He allegedly intended to help hijack the plane but was bumped from the flight. He was arrested but was then released by the Greek government as part of the deal to release the hostages. [Note: To get some Greek hostages released] He then re-joined the hijackers in Algiers onboard the hijacked airplane). This hijacking resulted in the death of United States Navy diver Robert Stethem. - Wikipedia

Something tells me that these guys aren't having a good week and that's a good thing. Surely, this has proved as a good reminder that they remain wanted men and will remain wanted for the rest of their lives. hopefully they will see the inside of a jail cell soon or meet a similar fate as Imad Mugniyah. As bad as it sounds to wish the death of someone, the planet will be much better off without these terrorists occupying it.

Goose Creek, South Carolina Terror Arrests - The Pieces do not Add Up

Now when I say that the pieces don't add up, I mean that nothing sounds right about these two guys. The more details that I read, the more I am convinced that they were up to no good. However, that will be up to a court to decide.

For starters, lets take the area where they were arrested. Sure, it was near a Navy Base. So what. The real interesting fact is that this was not near anything else. I am familiar with the area and the one thing about living in Charleston and going there was that the place was just out of the way. You basically never ended up there unless you were headed to the Navy base.

Now if they were off on a road trip as relatives mention in press reports, then why the hell were they not arrested speeding in the City of Charleston, or on the Isle of Palms, or down on James Island.

Really, you drive up from Tampa, Florida to Goose Creek?

This story mentions that they left Tampa around Midnight Friday. So they were arrested less than 18 hours after leaving Tampa. Say they took 8 hours to drive up, that leaves just the day for exploring. Of course this assumes that they made no other detours seeing that they were headed to North Carolina. (Which, by the way, does not include a trip through Charleston)

Could it be that the proclaimed trip to North Carolina was a cover story for checking out the Navy Base in Goose Creek? Why did they not tell their friends that they were stopping in Charleston? Charleston is worth a trip in itself. Especially if your going to be gone for only a weekend.

Then there is the issue of the explosives material. There are some reports that these were for making model rockets or fireworks, both of which are pretty easy to find in that part of the country without having to make your own. There is a huge model rocketry community in the US that builds their own rockets from scratch, including the fuel. However, I bet they all started with a Eastes model rocket kit before going off and making models of their own design. Still, many of them never make their own rocket motors as powerful solid-fuel rockets are available already. Has anyone ever seen either of these two shoot off a model rocket? Are their any model rocket materials in either of their homes?

The there is the small issue of the laptop. Most likely they were not surfing on the net from a moving car, although that is possible. Might they have been taking surveillance notes, or making driving directions? I guess we will find out if there was anything interesting on the laptop soon enough. I suspect the longer the delay, the more likely that something interesting was found on the computer. Who knows, maybe they are tracking down laptop leads as we speak. Then again, whatever is found, even pro-jihad videos, may be no confirmation that they were up to no good. Only that they have it.

Oh, you can forget the proclamations that these two are 'good boys' and have never gotten in trouble before and that they seem to fit in. That is how you can describe real terrorists currently hiding in the country. Not acting like a terrorist fits the profile of a potential terrorist. There is no need to point out that they have no links to known terrorists. Of course they don't. If they did, they would have been denied visas and refused entry into the country. (I hope.)

Now it is very possible that this is all one huge misunderstanding. That is fine as misunderstandings happen. The relevant fact in all of this is that these two raised suspicions when they were pulled over, which was why they were arrested. Now they have to go through the motions of sorting out what was a misunderstanding and what was not.

Much more information at Riehl World View. (Link updated to most recent post 8 Aug)

Update: 8 Aug 2007

The FBI has seized more computers in this case:

TAMPA - Investigators have removed computers from the family home of a University of South Florida student accused of having pipe bombs in his car, according to Ahmed Bedier, executive director of the Tampa chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

He said the FBI contacted the parents of Yousseff Samir Megahed of 4959 Anniston Circle, Tampa, who were on vacation, and got permission to search their home. When they returned, their computers were gone. - St. Petersburg Times

As found on The Jawa Report which points out that a third man, a roommate from Mauritania, may have fled the country.

Update II: 8 Aug 2007
One of today's readers emailed me the following comments concerning rocket motors:
Rocket motors, at least anything bigger than the little Estes stuff, require a BATF explosives license to purchase. Transporting them is another story. Special precautions must be made to transport them.

My husband is a model rocket person. We are not even able to keep motors at our home or warehouse. He purchases the motors at the shooting location because he is not licensed to store or transport, he is licensed only to purchase.

The BATF explosives license he has requires 2 FBI agents come and visit him yearly.

I doubt these guys had any license for rocket motors. I am sure large fireworks require the same type of background check k and license.

I just discovered your blog today. You do a good job. - Susan
Thanks much Susan!

So, based on these comments, even if they were doing nothing terrorist-related, they most likely violated some explosives law. Surely, that includes pipe bombs, which they were charged with possession of today.

Finnish Editorial: Replace Finnish Peacekeepers with Free Condoms

It is no secret that Finland is a very liberal country. While in some respects it is very much on the cutting edge of technology and has a high standard of living, it is also politically, very much aligned with the thinking of 'Old Europe'. This is combined with their declared stance of being 'neutral'; A product of sharing a border with the Soviet Union. (As long as their neutral position did no piss off the Soviets.)

Despite this position of neutrality, there has been an ongoing discussion about the possibility of joining NATO and a commitment to retain their massive stockpile of landmines despite the rest of the EU signing the Landmine ban treaty and pressures by EU States, and the rest of the world, for them to do the same. They also have a leading role concerning Kosovo and peacekeepers in Afghanistan.

The issue at the moment is whether Finland should increase its presence in Afghanistan.

There is concern that Finland is overextending itself militarily, partly in issues that some believe do not concern Finland, such as the War on Terror. There has already been a decision to withdraw their peacekeepers from Lebanon. Now some are pushing for the same to happen in Afghanistan. Take this commentary published online on Finland's leading newspaper titled "COMMENTARY: Send condoms, not rifles, to Afghanistan":

Finland also has a so-called good reputation around the world. Although Finland is in Afghanistan for legitimate reasons, the mission could damage this reputation.

War is rough; it is hell, as one of the best American generals, William Tecumseh Sherman (1820–1891) said.

Like any other soldier, a Finn is capable of shooting a prisoner of war, or raping a civilian. In a theatre of operations like Afghanistan, the likelihood of such an event is greater than in a traditional peacekeeping operation. [Note: Shooting someone, maybe yes, but not a prisoner. (Technically, there are no recognized prisoners of war, only illegal combatants.) Rape, no. Not for anything, she does not convey a very high opinion of Finnish peacekeepers. They are volunteers and are much better educated than those coming from countries that have been involved in rape issues.]

If this were to happen, the sad news would be remembered around the world for a long time. [Note: Not likely]

A different kind of hypothesis: what if a Finnish patrol were to stop a car in Afghanistan with Osama bin Laden in it? Would Finland hand bin Laden over to the Americans, incur the hatred of militant Muslims, and thus increase the likelihood of a terror attack in Finland? - Helsingin Sanomat

There you have it. Perfect reasoning from the 'left'. We need to get the hell out of Afghanistan because we might accidentally find Osama Bin Laden and that might piss off some radical muslims. (Note: Finnish Forces are not actively looking for him. That is not their mission.)

(Finnish Peacekeepers in Afghanistan)
(Kuvat: Janne Riskilä/Suomalainen kriisinhallintajoukko Afganistanissa)

Well here is a secret for this reporter, if they want to hate you, they will find a reason to do so:

We spoke at some length with the Imam about the worldviews of the Muslim community in Finland. He believed that the views could be divided into three groups.

Firstly there are the Finnish converts who, despite having become Muslim by faith, remain ‘Finnish’ in all other ways, including knowing their rights as citizens.

The second group are immigrants who have escaped bad situations in their countries of birth and as a result feel a sense of gratitude to the country that has given them refuge.

The third group, which he believes to be the majority amongst Muslim immigrants across Europe, feel that it was the activities and policies of ‘the West’ that led to them having to leave their homeland – be that for economic reasons or non-economic reasons such as war. As a result, they feel that they owe no gratitude to the countries where they now live.

This sentiment will only be amplified if they face prejudice or a lack of opportunities once resident in Europe. Importantly, ‘the West’ is seen as a bloc – in many ways a mirror image of how the West tends to view “the Muslim World” in an undifferentiated way. Therefore Finland’s history as a young nation with a past of being a colony itself, makes no difference to it being seen as part of ‘the West’.

Two anecdotal stories Imam Chehab recounted to us suggest that if an individual already has a certain mindset – in this case that of Finland as part of the ‘oppressive West’ – then they will retrospectively find the ‘evidence’ to support this.

The first case concerned a TV documentary shown some years ago about the birth of Israel. One of the elderly Zionists who was interviewed noted that there had been a small number of Finns who had fought with them. Rather than dismissing these as probable mercenaries, adventurers or crackpots, the Imam remembered this was discussed by some as evidence that Finland was supportive of Israel and not sympathetic to the Palestinians.

Another similar anecdote was about a member of the congregation who showed the Imam an article he had discovered in an obscure history journal noting that during the 11th century Crusades, there was a Finnish regiment amongst the Christian armies which was reputed to be particularly blood-thirsty. This again was taken as indicative of Finnish attitudes to Islam a millennium later! Although individually these stories might seem almost comical, they do suggest a particular attitude amongst a few individuals who see Finland as no different from any other Western country.

At the very least they show a lack of understanding of Finnish history and society, again suggesting a failure of integration. Of course it will be only a few individuals who would justify their feelings against Finland in these obscure historical terms, but a failure of integration leading to marginalisation, unemployment, poverty and lack of educational opportunities will provide much more contemporary grounds for some to wish ill on the country. - FIIA Report, Pages 64-65

Her title for this article, 'Send Condoms' can in itself be seen as insulting Islam, as some Muslims believe that condoms encourage extramarital sex.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has said help your brother and sister when they are right or wrong. The companions asked, “How to help them when they are wrong.” He said “to stop them from doing wrong is their help.” So are you doing this by giving them condoms?

If I were you, I will teach why they should not engage in premarital or extra marital sex. They can always get condom some where else. Your job as Muslim to tell what is Allah’s ruling on this so that they can make good decisions for themselves. - Islam Online

Does she really think handing out condoms to Muslims is going to piss Muslims off less?

As far as this imam quoted above is concerned, handing out condoms is wrong, unless there is a medical reason for the woman to need it. Not getting pregnant is not a valid reason. So even something trivial and beneficial can get Finland in trouble.

What kind of aid workers does she propose sending? If she wants to help women then women need to be sent. However, even that can cause problems, because local men might think that not dressing in a burqa might be seen as interfering in their culture. And how do you protect these female aid workers? If you send men, then you open up the rape issue again (her reason), especially considering that aid workers get much closer access to the locals than peacekeepers.

There is also the basic problem in that Finnish society itself is in some ways offensive to Islam. Women are treated as equals to men. Women can travel without the supervision of a male relative and women can legally drink alcohol from the age of 18. Since there are Muslims living in Finland, there is the possibility that they will complain to their 'brothers' abroad about how they are being in Finland, risking Finland to attack just as much as having peacekeepers abroad.

So unless Finland plans to just surrender to the muslims, then this thinking is at the least just plan foolish and at most, dangerous.

Peacekeepers are needed in Afghanistan, simply because there are terrorists in the country who are determined to disrupt all attempts to develop the country's infrastructure whether they are run by foreigners of not. Foreign peacekeepers are needed to stop, kill or capture these terrorists or at the very least, provide a stable environment for the new Government to grow so that it can handle these matters itself.

Finland can ignore many problems around the globe as long as all countries also do not ignore them. That is the case now, but that might not always be the case. Unfortunately, the writer did not fully consider the risks of not participating.

If we Close Gitmo, How About Offering it to the Brits

You have to wonder. The US is radical islam's number one target, yet it is the UK that seems to be swamped with islamic terrorists. Maybe part of the reason that they are having such a problem and we are not is because these terrorists are afraid of being caught by the US.

We can partly thank this terrorist fear of the US on our prison facilities at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, GITMO, along with allegations of torture of US terrorist detainees. Simply put, Gitmo scares them.

Although, for some reason, Gitmo just happens to scare everyone. Europe has exerted no end of energy to investigate whether the US secretly held terror prisoners in Europe as well as hunting down suspected CIA Agents operating in Europe, to the point of filing charges against some. Yet the terrorists the CIA was tracking continue to get a free pass. Europe's 'policy' of going soft on terrorists so as not to piss them off does extent to the US which is sad, since we have no plans of blowing up their populations. It does however, give terrorists some freedom to move about in planning the next terrorist attack.

In addition to not attacking Europe, the US has also failed to kill anybody using torture at Gitmo. Just to give a little perspective, more African migrants are going to drown in the Mediterranean sea this year trying to get to Europe while the EU does nothing to save them than there are prisoners in Gitmo. Yet there is this idiotic push to close a prison that is needed to hold those who wish to kill us. That is an often overlooked point. And yes, they want to kill us.

To make matters worse, the US prison system is not suitable to hold large numbers of suicidal terrorists. At the very least, you don't put prisoners of war in prison with criminals. You put them in a prison camp, like Gitmo. Those on the left fighting to earn these criminals prisoner of war rights should realize that being labeled as such will exclude them from the court system, eventually as well as from US jails. You just can't have it both ways.

Historically, illegal combatants, like those at Gitmo, were traditionally just shot or hung. (Like spies) Containing them in a camp is a new novel idea. After all, as long as they are breathing, a terrorist group can demand their release or else. This is the suspected way that terrorist Mohammed Ali Hammadi gained his freedom:

There has been speculation that his parole was granted as part of a covert prisoner swap, in exchange for the release of Susanne Osthoff. Taken hostage in Iraq a month prior, Osthoff was released the week of Hammadi's parole. - Wiki

If the US does shut Gitmo, as appears ever so likely, the US will surely arrange alternative arrangements to hold them overseas instead of giving them access to the US legal system. It will also allow the US to remove themselves from being in control of their detention. Let the liberal lawyers appeal detention orders in some of these other countries.

No matter what happens, there is a decreasing need for Gitmo nowadays since the military is now more likely to kill than capture suspected terrorists as discussed here.

Since we will not be needing Gitmo, perhaps we should offer it to the Brits. They have been tracking thousands of suspected terrorists within their own country. Recent events suggest that they should probably detain some of them. It makes no sense to have suspected and known enemies residing inside your country. Lets face it, the UK is hardly going to increase their terror risk by placing some of their biggest threasts in a Gitmo-type facility.

-------------------------------

Notes:

Before you start talking about rights for those held in Gitmo, including rights under the Geneva Convention, keep in mind that the UN issued a report in February 2006 titled "Situation of detainees at Guantánamo Bay." The press covered the report and it's calls for the US to close Gitmo. What the news organizations seem to have missed, or ignored, was this important note by the Chairperson of the working group that made the report:

The Chairperson of the Working Group and the Special Rapporteur note that, while United States Armed Forces continue to be engaged in combat operations in Afghanistan as well as in other countries, they are not currently engaged in an international armed conflict between two Parties to the Third (POWs) and Fourth (civilians) Geneva Conventions. (Pages 13-14 of the report)

In other words, the UN states that the Geneva Conventions do not apply to these criminals.

Don't be fooled either by those who claim that these radicals have kidnapped Islam. That is a lie. Islam has not been kidnapped.

Nancy Pelosi Submits to Islam in Syria

Speaker Pelosi arrives in Syria with a nice scarf.

Which can handily 'convert' into an Islam-complaint head covering.

You are looking at the main reason why Syria was looking forward to Speaker Pelosi's Trip:

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, wears a scarf inside Ommayad Mosque during her tour at a popular market in downtown Damascus, Syria, Tuesday April 3, 2007. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi arrived in Syria on Tuesday, the highest-ranking American politician to visit the country since relations began to deteriorate four years ago. President George W. Bush criticized the trip, saying it sends mixed signals to President Bashar Assad. (AP Photo/Hussein Malla)

She could have taken a stand for women's rights and stood as an example for all women, but opted to sacrifice her own rights, as to not upset Islam or her guests. It should not have been a problem since Syria has signed the UN's "Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women New York, 18 December 1979". Then again, 'All Forms of Discrimintation' does not always mean what the UN had intended:

..... subject to reservations to article 2; article 9, paragraph 2, concerning the grant of a woman's nationality to her children; article 15, paragraph 4, concerning freedom of movement and of residence and domicile; article 16, paragraph 1 (c), (d), (f) and (g), concerning equal rights and responsibilities during marriage and at its dissolution with regard to guardianship, the right to choose a family name, maintenance and adoption; article 16, paragraph 2, concerning the legal effect of the betrothal and the marriage of a child, inasmuch as this provision is incompatible with the provisions of the Islamic Shariah; and article 29, paragraph 1, concerning arbitration between States in the event of a dispute. - OHCHR

Pretty handy that Sharia Law. Equal Rights for women as long as it does not conflict with Islam, which essentially exempts the entire Muslim World from this UN Convention. Yet they get to sign it so that the UN can claim it a success.

Now I am advocating that Speaker Pelosi go into a Mosque uncovered if they object to that. More so that she should have explained upfront that she was not wearing a head-covering and that her tour around Damascus should be arranged with that in mind. Better yet, she should have refused to visit Syria as they fail to protect the equal rights of women. How about forcing Assad to visit her in Washington instead.

To tell you the truth, I am surprised that she did this. It all too easily opens her to attacks, like this one.

Update: 4 April

Photographer Jamal Saidi calls it as he sees it. Pelosi is wearing a veil.

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wears a veil as she visits the tomb of John the Baptist inside the Umayyad mosque in Damascus April 3, 2007. This is how the rest of the Muslim world will see it. It would be useful for Speaker Pelosi to explain how this is going to help in the fight against terro.

One piece of advice, next time, skip the tour of the mosque, or leave it to the men to tour it.

Jobs That Muslims Cannot Do

Forget about jobs that Americans will not do. You know, the common excuse as to why all these illegal aliens are in the US.

In reality, there is no such thing as a job that an American will not do. The show 'Dirty Jobs' has great examples every week to prove that no job is too dirty for an American. Sure, we might bitch and moan about the job, the pay, the boss, everything, but when compared to (certain) Muslims, Americans are a pretty damn flexible, and great workforce.

Take the Airport Taxi Drivers in Minnesota who are refusing to carry passengers that have alcohol or dogs with them, including service animals.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- For Abdi Mohamed, it's not a question of whether he'll carry passengers with alcohol in his cab. The question is whether he'll get punished for refusing to do so.

"I am Muslim. I'm not going to carry alcohol," Mohamed, a driver for Bloomington Cab, told a Metropolitan Airports Commission panel that gathered public opinion Tuesday regarding proposed penalties for cabbies who refuse service to passengers carrying alcohol.

Dozens of cab drivers showed up for the hearing at a hotel near the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Commissioners are charged with setting a new policy by May, when airport licenses for cab drivers are set to expire. Under the proposal, drivers who refuse service for any reason would have their license suspended for 30 days. A second refusal would mean a two-year revocation of the license.

According to airport officials, about 80 percent of their cabdrivers are Somali, who are commonly Muslim. Islam religious law strictly forbids the carrying of alcohol. - Boston.com

I am sure your reaction is somewhat similar to mine in that this guy should not be driving a taxicab in America. Now take a look at that last sentence which mentions that it is against their religion to carry alcohol. That is incorrect. It is against their religion to drink alcohol. There is a difference.

This problem comes from propagandizing the Islamic concept of najis by religious extremists:

In Islamic law, najis (Arabic: نجس‎) are things or persons regarded as ritually unclean.[1] There are two kinds of najis. The essential najis which can not be cleaned and unessential najis which becomes najis contact with another najis and one of them are wet.[2]

Contact with najis things brings a Muslim into a state of ritual impurity (najasat), which requires undergoing purification before performing religious duties, such as regular prayers.

According to the Shafi'i school of Sunni Islamic jurisprudence, as systematised by al-Nawawi in his book Minhadj, the following things are najis: wine and other spirituous drinks, dogs, swine, dead animals that were not ritually slaughtered, blood, excrements, and milk of animals whose meat Muslims are not allowed to eat. Spirituous drinks are not impure according to the Hanafi school, while living swine are not impure according to the Malikis.[1]

To the list of impure things enumerated by al-Nawawi, Shi’a jurists traditionally add dead bodies and kafirs.[1][2] According to Ruhollah Khomeini, the entire list of things that are considered najis in Shi’ism includes: “urine, excrement, sperm, blood, a dog, a pig, bones [of a dead body], a non-Muslim man and woman, wine, beer, [and] perspiration of the camel that eats filth.”[3] Khomeini further specifies that “[t]he whole body of a non-Muslim is unclean, even his hair, his nails, and all the secretions of his body.… A child below the age of puberty is unclean if his parents and grandparents are not Muslims; but if he has a Muslim for a forebear, then he is clean.… The body, saliva, nasal secretions, and perspirations of a non-Muslim man or woman who converts to Islam automatically become pure. As for their garments, if they were in contact with the sweat of the body before their conversion, they will remain unclean.”[3] - Wiki

Good luck trying to put some common sense and reason into the above 'law'.

As you can see, alcohol is not 'clean' in their world-view and this is the basis of the taxicab driver's refusals to allow alcohol in their cabs. Fine, but according to their own list, the whole body of non-muslims is equally unclean, so they should be refusing to carry these alcohol-carrying passengers for being non-muslims, not for carrying alcohol.

One alcohol-related issue that I have not seen them complain about is why are they not complaining about picking up customers after they leave a bar? Wouldn't it be worse to carry a person in their taxi who has just imbibed large quantities of alcohol instead of a person simply carrying alcohol?

Now dogs are also 'unclean', but for some reason the cabbies claim that there is no problem carrying dogs, as long as the law requires them to:

Much of the hearing was dedicated to concerns over whether Muslim cabbies would also refuse service to blind passengers with trained guide dogs, because of Muslim prohibitions against interacting with dogs.

Several blind people voiced their concerns, but cabbies at the hearing said such worries aren't warranted. Refusing service to blind passengers is against federal law.

"I am a Muslim and I have taken many guide dogs," Abdi Mohamed said.

But the cabbies and their supporters left no doubt that they aren't flexible on the alcohol issue. - Boston.com

Too bad there was no follow-up question on how many non-guide-dogs he has taken in his cab. And if they can be flexible on the dog issue to comply with the law, then why not have the law require them to carry all passengers that demand service at the airport, and elsewhere. (Why does the law not require this now?)

The concern about activist muslim drivers refusing to accept service dogs is a valid one. Take this recent post at Little Green Footballs documenting muslim taxi driver's refusal to assist blind people with service dogs:

Blind woman Gry Berg, accompanied by her guide dog, was denied entry into four taxis in the center of the city of Oslo, Norway, this March. Three of the drivers claimed that their unwillingness to accept her dog was due to allergy, while the fourth one simply locked the car doors and refused to give an explanation for why he wouldn’t let Ms. Berg into his cab. - Little Green Footballs

Lets see if this alergy spreads to muslim taxi drivers in the US as well, or if the law is written to prevent that type of excuse.

A number of countries in the Middle East have huge populations of foreign workers. When I was there, the initial impression that I had was that the locals were lazy and preferred to just import others, from India, Pakistan and other countries in the region to do their work for them, all paid by the proceeds of oil revenue. (Allowing the unemployed locals to go off on jihad.) Now I wonder if part of the reason is that also do not want to be put in a situation of being unclean.

So, taking into account the above restrictions, one would think that Muslims are not able to work in the following positions:

- Taxicab Driver
- Bus driver
- Airline Pilot (Alcohol, dogs onboard)
- Flight Attendant
- Overnight Delivery service (UPS, Fedex, etc.)
- Mailman
- Garbage man
- Anything in the food industry
- Any job in a hospital
- Grocery Store clerk
- Pharmacist (pork derived medicines, ie insuline)
- Most any job not in a mosque or halal butcher
Think this is not realistic? Take this story which covers a new attack by some muslims on American culture:

MINNEAPOLIS (Kansas City Star) - Beryl Dsouza was late and in no mood for delays when she stopped at a Target store after work two weeks ago for milk, bread and bacon.

So Dsouza was taken aback when the cashier - who had on the traditional headscarf, or hijab, worn by many Muslim women - refused to swipe the bacon through the checkout scanner.

"She made me scan the bacon. Then she opened the bag and made me put it in the bag," said Dsouza, 53, of Minneapolis. "It made me wonder why this person took a job as a cashier."

In the latest example of religious beliefs creating tension in the workplace, some Muslims in the Twin Cities are adhering to a strict interpretation of the Quran that prohibits the handling of pork products.

Instead of swiping the items themselves, they are asking non-Muslim employees or shoppers to do it for them. - Jawa Report

Oddly enough, these controversies have resulted in an backlash from muslim groups who are fearful that these actions will result in Americans racially-profiling and avoiding muslim workers.

So according to them, you should still use the muslim taxi drivers and checkout clerks, but be sure to not carry alcohol or buy pork products because you'll offend them.

Sorry, you cannot have it both ways. I will give the muslim groups credit. They are right in thinking that these examples will encourage others to profile muslims negatively. Now I don't avoid muslims at the supermarket checkout and have yet to have one treat any pork products I'm buying any different from anything else on the belt. But you can bet that I am looking for a reaction. If anything, muslims are now handling more pork products and carrying more alcohol because many others are also fishing for reactions and refusals to do their jobs.

These rouge muslim workers are doing serious damage to those of their faith who are unemployed and looking for work. Who in their right mind, knowing of these refusals to do work, would hire a muslim?

In light of the examples above, if I had a muslim woman show up from the temp office with a head covering, that would be her last day. If she showed up with a veil, I would ask her to remove it when talking to me, to respect my beliefs, or leave immediately. This has not happened yet, and I doubt it would be a problem as any muslims that faithful to their religion would not walk through the office's front door as there is a Mezuzah affixed to it. This indicates to all that this is a Jewish business. (in this case the company I work for is owned by a Jew.)

I am not targeting all Muslims. This is aimed at all the extremist, activist, no-good muslims whose only purpose in life seems to be starting trouble. Really, maybe they were not paying attention when they first arrived here when it was pointed out that all new arrivals to this country were and are treated like sh*t, and that they will be judged and accepted as a direct result of their ability to contribute to society. Their response is to contribute nothing of value while at the same time, attempting to poison other muslims who have, until now, managed to find a way to be part of America’s melting-pot. Really, do they they really think that they are the first muslims to live in the US?

And by the way, if alcohol is prohibited by Islam, why is it permitted in some muslim countries?

Dubai - Drinking or possession of alcohol without a Ministry of Interior liquor permit is illegal and could result in arrest and/or fines and imprisonment. Alcohol is served at bars in most major hotels but is intended for guests of the hotel. Persons who are not guests of the hotel, and who consume alcohol in the restaurants and bars, technically are required to have their own personal liquor licenses. Liquor licenses are issued only to non-Muslim persons who possess UAE residency permits. Drinking and driving is considered a serious offense. Penalties generally are assessed according to religious law. - US State Deparment

Qatar - Qatari customs authorities enforce strict regulations concerning importation into Qatar of items such as alcohol, narcotics, pork products, firearms, or anything deemed pornographic by Qatari authorities. While importation of religious material for personal use is acceptable, importation of religious material for the purpose of proselytizing is not. It is advisable to contact the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Washington, D.C., or the Consulate General of the State of Qatar in Houston for specific information regarding customs requirements. - US State Deparment

Recently, there was news of a drug and alcohol bust in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Sure alcohol is illegal there, and Mecca is a Muslim-only City. But There is a damand for alcohol in Saudi Arabia. So much so, that Saudis go places like Bahrain for a drink, and think it is OK.

Bahrain is a country where there are the very, very rich and the very poor -- there is nothing inbetween. Money flows from the pockets of the reveling Saudis, who cross the bridge they built to Bahrain in order to escape the extreme strictures of their homeland. In Saudi Arabia, alcohol is positively forbidden; in Bahrain, it is not. The Bahraini look on the the loud, pretentious Saudis with contempt -- but take their money. - Jennifer Tyson

So if the Saudis have no problem with alcohol, why should any other muslim?

birmingham, UK Arrests - Sure Sign that Allah is Not on Your Side

I would say that police showing up on your doorstep to arrest you and your co-conspirators only days before you are set to kidnap an 'evil' muslim member of the military (that is kicking your jihadist asses in other parts of the world) a sure sign that Allah is not on your sign.
EVIL Muslim terrorists were to kidnap a British soldier on UK streets and force him to plead with Tony Blair for his life in return for a pull-out of troops from Iraq, The Sun can reveal.

The soldier would have been filmed begging the PM to withdraw from Iraq and Afghanistan in a sick propaganda stunt.

Army sources said the target was a British Muslim soldier in his 20s.

He would eventually be beheaded on film in a sick mirror of the torture and savage killing of British hostage Ken Bigley if Mr Blair refused.

Senior security sources say the plot would have put the most unbearable blackmail pressure on the Premier to act.

It would also have sent shockwaves through the entire British Armed Forces - putting the fear of God into every man and woman in uniform on or off duty.

The fact that the arrests were made in Birmingham could suggest that soldiers recovering from wounds in military hospitals there might have been targeted. - The Sun
If these 'kids' want to play a serious game, they they should pay a serious price if caught. I find it sickening that people could live in a country and be willing to kill those in service to their country. News is coming out that this was no small-time operation either:
A foiled plot to kidnap, torture and behead a British Muslim soldier was orchestrated by Al Qaeda, police sources have said.

Officers suspect the mastermind behind the appalling attempt to bring the horrors of Baghdad to the streets of Britain is a senior Al Qaeda terrorist with close links to Osama Bin Laden. - UK Daily Mail
Sadly, had they succeeded, the group most likely to suffer would have been other muslims in the UK. As it is, they have long abused the rights given to them as residents and citizens in the UK to plot against their host country. At some point, they will have enough. However, for the moment, the press will concentrate on the fear in the muslim community, not of terrorism, but of being arrested by the authorities next:
“There is a fear about who is next,” said Mohammed Naseem, the chairman of Birmingham’s Central Mosque, in a telephone interview. “People will need to know the facts, but there is a longstanding perception that this climate of terrorism is being maintained to further the political aims of the government.”

Indeed, Salma Yaqoob, a member of the Birmingham City Council representing the antiwar Respect Party, said: “There’s a shock and disbelief that these arrests are being made in such a high-profile manner. People are very concerned about the social backlash.” - NY Times
For a group so eager to enforce sharia on their own people, they sure are pretty damn ignorant on what goes on in their own neighborhoods. It is not the police that are targeting their neighborhoods, it is the activities that goes on in their neighborhoods that brings the police. Thanks to Good Allah, these terrorists have been made known to the authorities and are now praying to Allah from a jail cell.

US Airways Imams Should Be Prosecuted

This is not how Religious member of society are supposed to behave. This is how terrorists and terror enablers act.

At the very least, these Imams should be banned from flying. However, they really should be prosecuted and sent to jail.

Muslim religious leaders removed from a Minneapolis flight last week exhibited behavior associated with a security probe by terrorists and were not merely engaged in prayers, according to witnesses, police reports and aviation security officials.

Witnesses said three of the imams were praying loudly in the concourse and repeatedly shouted "Allah" when passengers were called for boarding US Airways Flight 300 to Phoenix.

"I was suspicious by the way they were praying very loud," the gate agent told the Minneapolis Police Department.

Passengers and flight attendants told law-enforcement officials the imams switched from their assigned seats to a pattern associated with the September 11 terrorist attacks and also found in probes of U.S. security since the attacks -- two in the front row first-class, two in the middle of the plane on the exit aisle and two in the rear of the cabin.

"That would alarm me," said a federal air marshal who asked to remain anonymous. "They now control all of the entry and exit routes to the plane." - Washington Times

You can bet that the Imams knew what they were doing when they choose those seat locations. If they wanted to sit in different parts of the plane, why not check in and request to sit like that.

According to witnesses, police reports and aviation security officials, the imams displayed other suspicious behavior.

Three of the men asked for seat-belt extenders, although two flight attendants told police the men were not oversized. One flight attendant told police she "found this unsettling, as crew knew about the six [passengers] on board and where they were sitting." Rather than attach the extensions, the men placed the straps and buckles on the cabin floor, the flight attendant said. - Washington Times

Now they have weapons. It was not clear to me at first why they had asked for them as the news did not point out that they were given the seat-belt extenders and that they failed to put them on, instead putting them on the floor, ready to grab for assaulting the flight crew. Instead of presenting the facts of the incident, the mainstream media left open the possibility that whether they were needed was a matter of opinion and that the flight attendants were being cruel, forcing the imams to be strapped tightly into the seats. Shame on the media for distorting the story.

The imams who claimed two first-class seats said their tickets were upgraded. The gate agent told police that when the imams asked to be upgraded, they were told no such seats were available. Nevertheless, the two men were seated in first class when removed.

A flight attendant said one of the men made two trips to the rear of the plane to talk to the imam during boarding, and again when the flight was delayed because of their behavior. Aviation officials, including air marshals and pilots, said these actions alone would not warrant a second look, but the combination is suspicious.

"That's like shouting 'fire' in a crowded theater. You just can't do that anymore," said Robert MacLean, a former air marshal. - Washington Times

Why did only two of them move into first class? They must have been very insistent as anyone who flies knows that you can't just sneak into first class.

And what were Imams doing in first class anyway? Is that the way that muslim imams travel? If so, why did they not just buy first class tickets from the start?

So why were these muslims targeted? Was it for their outrageous behavior or was it for their being muslims? Do you think their might have been other muslims on that flight? Why were they not removed?

The pilot said the airlines are not "secretly prejudiced against any nationality, religion or culture," and that the only target of profiling is passenger behavior.

"There are certain behaviors that raise the bar, and not sitting in your assigned seat raises the bar substantially," the pilot said. "Especially since we know that this behavior has been evident in suspicious probes in the past."

"Someone at US Airways made a notably good decision," said a second pilot, who also does not work for US Airways.

A spokeswoman for US Airways declined to discuss the incident. Aviation security officials said thousands of Muslims fly every day and conduct prayers in airports in a quiet and private manner without creating incidents. - Washington Times

Clearly the profiling of behavior worked. The actions of these Imams does nothing but support terrorism, both in pushing transportation employees not to question suspicious behavior as well as informing terrorists what kind of actions are possible to get away with on an airplane. THAT, is what professionals call a 'DRY RUN.'

And No, you can't say allah akbar anywhere near a plane. I would take that as evidence enough that you are getting ready to kill everyone around you and would expect law enforcement to put you down before you got the chance to meet allah on your own terms.

Will any muslims speak out against the behavior of these Imams? Most likely not. Take a look here at what happened to a US muslim who spoke out against jihad and Islamic Terrorism.

Update: 6 December 06

Thanks to Sout al Kouffar for this video response aptly titled 'Flight Club.'

Now all we need is for US Airways to announce that they are suing the six imams for the expenses they incurred as a result of their stunt.

Update: 17 December 06
Newt Gingrich also believes that these imams should be prosecuted:
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told an audience in New Hampshire Muslim clerics pulled off a plane for praying should have been charged criminally.

Gingrich made the remark Friday night, as he delivered the keynote speech at the Manchester Republican City Committee Christmas dinner, the Manchester (N.H.) Union Leader reported.

"Those six people should have been arrested and prosecuted for pretending to be terrorists," Gingrich said. "And the crew of the U.S. airplane should have been invited to the White House and congratulated for being correct in the protection of citizens." - Washington Times

Shocking: Warrantless Search at Airport Naps Suspected Terrorist Entering the US

While the Democrats drone on about the US listening in on international phone calls made by suspected terrorists without warrants, perhaps they should expand their 'terrorist protection agenda' to include those crossing into and out of the US:

A man was arrested at Detroit Metropolitan Airport after officials say they found him carrying more than $78,000 in cash and a laptop computer containing information about nuclear materials and cyanide.

Sisayehiticha Dinssa, an unemployed U.S. citizen, was arrested Tuesday after a dog caught the scent of narcotics on cash he was carrying, according to an affidavit filed in court.

When agents asked him if he had any cash to declare, he said he had $18,000, authorities said. But when agents checked his luggage, they found an additional $59,000. When they scrolled through his laptop, they said they found the mysterious files. - BreitBart

This was all done without a warrant as he was returning to the US and of course Customs has a free hand with everyone coming back to the US. It gets better:

At a court hearing Wednesday, Dinssa was ordered held in custody until at least until Monday at the request of prosecutors.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Leonid Feller argued Dinssa was a potential risk to the community and federal agents want to get a warrant to search his computer more thoroughly, The Detroit News reported Thursday. U.S. Magistrate Donald Scheer approved Feller's request to detain him.

Dinssa, who is from Dallas, arrived in Detroit from Nigeria by way of Amsterdam and was headed for Phoenix, Feller said. He is charged with concealing more than $10,000 in his luggage, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, the Detroit Free Press reported. - BreitBart

So now that he has been identified as a possible threat or criminal (He lied and was caught with undeclared cash.) they will obtain a warrant to go completely through his laptop and hold his ass in jail until they better understand what he was up to. So the system works as it should.

No mention on whether he was a muslim or not. Nigeria does have a substantial muslim population and chances are good that he has some connection to more radical elements of the Nigerian muslim population based on three facts; he is unemployed, was caught with larges amounts of cash, had in his possession documentation about nuclear materials and poison.

So why is this important? Well instead of bringing back the files on a computer, he could have faxed it back or explained the relevant parts of the documentation via a phone call. Currently the US can snoop in on international calls without a warrant. The Democrats want to change that. While they are at it, why not just require warrants for each of the millions of people coming back to the US if the Government wants to search them. Of course that's ridiculous, as is requiring warrants for international phone calls, faxes and mail.

There is now additional information from Little Green Footballs:

Oddly enough, the AP wire story leaves out some important facts; namely, that he was born in Ethiopia, and that he had just spent four months in Nigeria: Airport arrest turns up nuclear info.

And even more oddly, not one of the news agencies thinks we need to know his religion. - Little Green Footballs

I am going to go out on a limb and bet that this guy was up to some terrorist related activities. Lets see how quickly the muslim community comes to his defence. At least he is looking at five years in prison for the hidden cash. That's a good start.

Update: 17 November 06

Someone thought this story was important enough to email it to a person in Nigeria. The real interesting part is that they used a Satcom link to check out the post. Just who in Nigeria uses Sat communication? Might it be the same type of people who hand out tens of thousands to 'unemployed Americans'? There was a real interest in the story here, they wasted 5 minutes on it. (OK, unlikely, but possible.)

Hamas Declares War on US

It seems that the mainstream media,MSM, missed this little piece of news while covering the Democrats victory in the recent elections.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) - Hamas' military wing called Wednesday on Muslims around the world to attack American targets following reports that an Israeli tank strike killed 18 people in the Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanoun. The Hamas-led Palestinian government distanced itself from the call, saying its fight was with Israel. Hamas terrorists have historically directed their suicide bombings and rocket attacks only against Israeli targets.

"America is offering political, financial and logistic cover for the Zionist occupation crimes, and it is responsible for the Beit Hanoun massacre. Therefore, the people and the nation all over the globe are required to teach the American enemy tough lessons," Hamas' military wing said in a statement sent to The Associated Press.

But Ghazi Hamad, spokesman for the Hamas-led Palestinian government, said the group had no intention of attacking American targets. - NY Sun

Notice how they are trying to differentiate between the Hamas Government and the Hamas Military wing. This is like the Pentagon declaring war on North Korea and the White House 'distancing itself' from the statement. It might work that way when you are a terrorist group, but it does not work that way when your also the Government.

But who is really in charge here?

Hamas' political wing, led by Prime Minister Haniyeh, tries to distinguish itself from the military wing. But the two entities both report to the group's exiled leadership, based in Syria, and frequently coordinate with each other. - NY Sun

In other words the call to attack American targets around the world was approved by the Hamas leadership in Syria and both the Hamas Government and the Hamas military wing have the same bosses.

The whole point of having any distinction at all is to provide some sort of plausible deniability to their terrorist actions as well as permit some of the group to operate in the open, in support of the terrorist wing, of course.

At the end of the day, I read the statement by Hamas above as a declaration of war. I am not sure why they would do that as they have things 'relatively good' at the moment with the US limiting action against them to finantial sanctions. I am not sure they want to really get the US's attention. After all, there is available cell space in Gitmo and the US can target them with air strikes as well.

British Legal System straining under Ever-Growing List of Terror Cases

With the arrest of 24 ‘suspected’ terrorists, the UK’s legal system now has 24 more terror cases on it’s hands. So it made me wonder what happened to the four London bombers that were captured after their backpacks full of explosives failed to blow them to Allah as they had planned. Seems like not much of anything has happened:

A GAGGING order may be imposed to prevent media coverage of the trial of four men accused of attempting to carry out suicide bomb attacks in London a year ago today.

Defense lawyers for the alleged July 21 bombers are expected to apply for stringent reporting restrictions when the case next comes before the Old Bailey in October.

They are also likely to seek an adjournment of the trial of Muktar Said Ibrahim, 27, Ramzi Mohammad, 23, Yassin Omar, 24, and Hussain Osman, 27. If the applications are successful the full story of the events of July 21, when explosive devices failed to detonate on three Tube trains and a bus, will not be told until late next year. Another
terrorism trial due to begin at Woolwich Crown Court in the autumn has already been made the subject of a wide ranging order. - TimesOnline

Looking at their attempts to stall and delay, you would think that these guys wished that they were in Gitmo instead of headed to court. So we now have four people who did not believe in British Society now doing their best to use the rules of the society against itself. It would not be a big issue by itself, but they are not the only ones gumming up the works:

Delays and secrecy surrounding terrorism trials are prompting concerns about the way in which the criminal justice system handles such cases. More than 60 suspected terrorists are in British jails awaiting trial and most face long periods of detention on remand before their cases come to court.

Most have specialist lawyers who have successfully argued for adjournments, and have extended trials by several months. As a result the legal aid bill is soaring and the courts face the task of finding juries to sit on lengthy cases. Similar difficulties have already hampered a number of fraud cases. – TimesOnline

Only now they are getting concerned? Did you know that there were more than 60 suspected terrorists in UK jails? This does not include the additional 24 added yesterday. Why do the cases have to be so long? How long does it take to prove that these four terrorists went into the metro system with explosives on their back intending to blow themselves and everyone around them to pieces? It not like we had examples already of how terror suspects terrorize the court system. Take Zacarias Moussaoui's antics during his two-year trial. It only ended once he got tired of playing games and turned around and plead guilty.
But overall, this is not a big issue right? Court cases always take time. Think again:

Counter-terrorist agencies believe that administrative delays, gagging orders and the sub judice rule, which bans pre-trial reporting, mean that the country is ill-informed about the terrorist threat.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Peter Clarke, the head of the Scotland Yard Anti-Terrorist branch, highlighted concerns about the justice system this year. Mr. Clarke said: “Much of the debate and comment about counter-terrorism in the UK has been either skewed or lacking in important detail because of the length of time it is taking
cases to reach the point of trial. It is obviously vital that all parties should have time to prepare thoroughly for these important cases, and nothing must be said or done which might prejudice the ability of a defendant to receive a fair trial. But there has nevertheless been a price to pay. And that price, put simply, is that the British public have not been able to make fully informed judgments
.”

Last week the Home Affairs Select Committee criticized some defense lawyers in terrorism cases. It questioned the activities of one unnamed small firm of solicitors representing large numbers of defendants.

The MPs’ report said: “We doubt whether those suspects were represented to the highest legal standards: this of course raises questions of whether justice has been properly served.” – Times Online

It has been known for a long time already that the legal system is either not prepared to handle these types of cases or they are the wrong place to try these cases. If these terrorists are conducting war, then perhaps a regular trial, and especially a jury trial, is the wrong way to deliver justice to these criminals.

The four 21 July bombers are:
Muktar Said Ibrahim - Wiki
Yasin Hassan Omar - Wiki
Ramzi Mohammed - Wiki
Osman Hussain - Wiki

As they have yet to go to trial, we will have to wait until at least 2007 before we learn if there were any connections between this group and the July 7 bombers who did manage to carry out their attack. It is now being reported that some of the bombers caught in this latest plot have connections to the 7 July bombers (US News) and it seems that one may even have connections to George Galloway. (Not to suggest that he knew what they were up to, but more to infer who they look up to...)

As for the newest 24 terror bombers, I think they should get what they wanted, to fall from the sky without parachutes. Unfortunately, this is not possible, as the July 21 metro bomber Muktar Said Ibrahim pointed out at his very public arrest:

"I have rights, I have rights!"

Well, so do the rest of us. That includes the court system and the jurors who are asked to judge you. With all this in mind, there should be serious consideration of special tribunals as well as harsh punisments for these types of crimes. By that I mean the death penalty.
