Almost all of us have done an all-nighter at some point in our lives. Of course, an all-nighter means that you stay up all night doing whatever you managed to put off until that last night.
Clearly, the US Senate has no clue what it means to work all night long. Because if they did, then what the hell do they need the beds for?

Workers unload folded cots for U.S. Senators outside the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington July 17, 2007. U.S. Senate Democrats, hoping to raise pressure on President George W. Bush and his fellow Republicans to pull troops from Iraq, have scheduled an around-the-clock war debate starting on Tuesday which is expected to last overnight, with about one dozen cots being made available for dozing Senators. Since when are you allowed to sleep at work?
How about being allowed to sleep during a meeting?
It is pretty hard to believe that this Iraq debate can be so important that they need to debate all night long, yet not so important to prevent them from getting some sleep while their fellow senators are debating.

That is a pretty big 'cot'. Maybe this one is for Senator Kennedy. Well they did say that they have only a dozen beds. Maybe the Senators are expected to rough it and share. Is it first-come, first-served? Just how much tax money is being wasted on this stunt? How many Senators plan to call in sick on Wednesday, or just spend the day sleeping in their office?
Take another look at the photo above. Look at how the press is just eating this all up.
Lets see if any of these photographers can manage a decent photo of our favorite Senators sleeping. Clinton? Obama? Kerry?
What a waste of an event. Time for bed!
