The family and I took a trip to Baltimore this morning to tour the USS CONSTELLATION AND submarine USS TORSK in the Inner Harbor and just happen to come across the OCCUPY BALTIMORE squatters. I can't say that I'm impressed. It more appeared to be a pathetic gathering. Not the 99% that you would think.
I don't have any closer pictures as I really did not want to interact with anyone there. I don't deny that many of them probably are in difficult situations. That said, I really don't see why people who have made bad decisions should be rewarded by having those of us who are in better control of our lives pay up to meet their obligations.
As you can see from their flyer, they are continuing with the idiotic theme they everyone is getting bailed out but them. As I have commented before, everyone else needs to be bailed out because they borrowed and then failed to pay everyone else back.
Giving these people more money is a waste. They see what others have and instead of trying to work hard and save, they would instead prefer to take from the rest of us.
One last thought. Statistically, I am in the top 10%. I think the tagging of these disruptions as on behalf of 99% of the population is an example of how the left likes to hijack issues. Just how much of the population are they representing?
Well, Fred, you're not in the top 10% in the thinking department. That's fairly evident.
ReplyDeleteThe Occupy movement isn't asking for a handout or money as you suggest. They're merely asking that the playing field be somewhat level.
Does it bother you that Wall Street firms brought our economic system to near-collapse by creating and selling financial products they knew were worthless? In doing so, they cost millions of Americans jobs, their savings, and their homes? Remember--these are people who were told that if they worked hard and saved--they could have a piece of the American dream. Instead, they wound up unemployed and losing their homes.
You claim to be in the 10%--that's really a risky place to be considering your GOP masters are suggesting you pay much more in taxes to support the lifestyle of Wall Street moguls.
Fred I'd stop calling yourself a journalist and start calling yourself an opinionated blogger. By definition your comments don't meet the ethics and morals journalists hold themselves to. ",they are continuing with the idiotic theme they everyone is getting bailed out but them. As I have commented before, everyone else needs to be bailed out because they borrowed and then failed to pay everyone else back.
ReplyDeleteGiving these people more money is a waste. They see what others have and instead of trying to work hard and save, they would instead prefer to take from the rest of us." this is opinionated not objective!!!
And as we are in a recession that means there are less jobs and less opportunity out there, thus less jobs, lay offs, job cuts etc. etc. That means people are in trouble, they can not find jobs, even with degrees and impressive resume's so handouts are not the question; rather a chance to hold a paying job which would be there if the CEO's did not cut 50% of their work force so they could pay themselves 90% more. Those are hard facts! Not opinions.
That is what the 99% are upset about.
Fred I get the impression you are what we greeks call a mikroastos. That translates roughly to a suburbanite or bourgeois. You probably aspire to become to be part of the 1% but know you have no chance. Meanwhile the 1% throws you enough to make you feel as if you are somehow above what you probably think of as the great unwashed... My friend these people no matter their hair length or ear rings have more "soul" than many short haired clean cut people... I am a businessman in Greece. I cater to the rich, and they throw me something too... like a bone to a dog. Well you know what? I don't intend to be a good doggy anymore! I've been on and off the streets since May and have met many more people like me and made good friends on the streets of Greece. Down with the 1% say I!!!!
